This is your portal to explore birding in any or all of the counties and cities in Virginia. To begin with, each county has a profile that gives a brief overview of the county’s history and geography, as well as some general tips on birding it and a summary of notable records. For the traveling birder, we have also included helpful information on amenities and other interesting attractions. To access a county profile, simply click the county on the map above, or select it from the list below. Each county profile also includes an alphabetical listing of the eBird hotspots in that county. Clicking the hotspot name will direct you to a hotspot write-up with all the information you need about access and how to bird it. If no one has contributed a write-up yet, the link will take you to the eBird page for that hotspot. The links for hotspots with write-ups appear in blue, while those without content (and direct links to eBird) appear in red. The site is still a work in progress, so not every county or hotspot will have content. If one of your favorite counties or hotspots doesn’t have a write-up yet, maybe you’re the one to write it!
