The network of trails passes through a number of unique habitats from bogs to scrub fields to woodlands. While songbird migration here can be truly spectacular on a good spring or fall morning, interesting birds and good birding can be found here year round.
Accessibility: The 35-acre Spruce Creek Park, one of very few public park in Nelson County, is located at the intersection of Rt. 151 and Glenthorne Loop. The Natural History Center serves as the only parking area for the park and its extensive network of trails and can be accessed either just north of the aforementioned intersection or by a gravel driveway off of Glenthrone Loop. All of the trails are public, however, some fall outside of the boundaries of the park so should be accessed by walking from the central parking area. The park is open year round.
